Susan Price is retiring from her role as The Children’s Society Diocesan Ambassador after 18 years.
Since moving to Bewdley, Susan started fundraising for The Children’s Society by starting house to house collections and making marmalade. In 1970, Susan and her late husband held the very first meeting of the Bewdley Appeals Committee, so rather than her doing lots of fundraising on her own, she had the support of a group of people and was therefore able to raise even more money for The Children’s Society. In 2003, Susan also became a Volunteer Speaker and Diocesan Ambassador for The Children’s Society, helping them to reach a far greater audience and impact the lives of many more children and young people.
As Diocesan Ambassador, Susan has represented The Children’s Society within Worcester diocese, networked with the Church, raised awareness about their work, supported other volunteers, and identified new opportunities for support from the local community.
Susan said: “For well over fifty years I have been a fundraiser and ambassador for this great organisation, but now am hoping to hand over to someone younger.”
Roseann Thompson, Relationship Manager for The Children’s Society, said: “Susan is an absolute delight to work alongside. Her positivity and passion for helping others shines through in absolutely everything she does. My highlight of working with Susan over the last few years is most definitely watching her receive a British Empire Medal for her services to charity and to the community in Bewdley. It was both a pleasure and privilege to be there with her.”
Susan continues to support The Children’s Society in her role as a fundraising committee member and Volunteer Speaker.
